Home inspections are an important part of the construction process. Getting a home inspection when you’re house shopping is a no-brainer – but many buyers who are looking at a new build, don’t always grasp the importance of the inspection process during construction. You’d think that a home that’s brand new is in tip-top shape, and an inspection is an unnecessary extra step. That’s not the case – inspections matter regardless of the age of a home. At Delonix Homes in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, all of our new build homes go through a through third party inspection process.

Here’s why inspections are important during the new build process:

They provide a layer of accountability and transparency in the general practices of building. Most homeowners only think of the “lipstick” elements of the home: the flooring, the finishes, and the trim work. An inspector is trained to look beyond and assess the building practices that lead to the construction of the home. The building elements and practices that lead to the final product are most important in the construction process.

Tradespeople are human and sometimes even the best can overlook the small details. Construction conditions can vary wildly depending on the weather, environment, and even other contractors. A third party inspection adds value because they provide fresh eyes on the work completed, and can provide an objective view of the current state of the build. At Delonix Homes, our inspectors are viewed as part of the team. If they’re able to catch something we missed, at the end of the day, we build a stronger home.

We’ve partnered with the Holmes Approved Homes program because their inspections are more thorough. By providing a deeper level of building review, using the best tools available, they are able to complete inspections to the highest quality. It’s all intended for the best end result in a better built home.
